🔥 How to Make Soya Chilli
Step 1: Boil the Soya Chunks
1️⃣ Bring 4 or more cups of water to a boil, add ½ tsp salt and soya chunks.
2️⃣ Boil for 5-7 minutes, then drain.
3️⃣ Squeeze out excess water and keep aside. Run under cold water to cool it down before squeezing.
Step 2: Stir-Fry the Base
4️⃣ Heat olive oil/butter/ghee/oil of choice in a pan.
5️⃣ Add chopped garlic and sauté until fragrant. You can also add sesame seeds if you have.
6️⃣ Add sliced capsicum and stir-fry on medium high for 1-2 minutes.
Step 3: Prepare the Sauce & Cook
7️⃣ In a bowl, mix all the sauces until well combined. (To mask the taste of Soya which a lot of people don’t like (husband doesn’t), I have used strong flavours here. Please feel free to adjust as per your individual tastebuds. Also this tastes good even if you just add schezwan sauce, soya sauce, vinegar, chilli sauce/red chilli powder, tomato ketchup and tomato puree. the idea is to have a mix of sweet, sour, spicy flavours together.)
8️⃣ Pour the sauce mix into the pan and stir well.
9️⃣ Add salt (as per taste) and toss in the boiled soya chunks.
🔟 Mix everything thoroughly, cover and cook on low flame for 2 minutes.
Step 4: Garnish & Serve
🌱 Garnish with fresh coriander leaves or chopped spring onions.
🍽️ Serve hot and enjoy this spicy soya chilli recipe with fried rice, noodles, roti or as an appetizer!
